We're looking for a senior architect to design and deploy the next generation of secure, AI-ready systems on Google Cloud. You'll be responsible for the architecture of secure landing zones and mission workloads from design to deployment.
Why IDS?
We are a firm founded and run by engineers who love the craft. We value the “relentless execution” mindset—moving the ball forward every day and delivering for the mission on the fastest possible timeline. If you have a homelab, a stack of technical side projects, and a genuine curiosity about how complex systems interact, you’ll fit in here.
What you’d do
Architect Secure Foundations: Design and deliver production-grade Google Cloud architectures (GCP) with the security controls required for federal missions.
Own the Migration: Lead large-scale migrations from discovery through cutover. You own the scope and the technical outcome end-to-end.
Automate Everything: Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Ansible) that makes complex deployments repeatable and resilient.
Bridge the Tech Gap: Leverage your existing deep cloud expertise (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to master the Google Cloud ecosystem, including Vertex AI and Gemini integration.
Continuous Improvement: Actively look for ways to optimize, automate, and enhance the systems you build. You’d rather automate a task than do it twice.
What we’d expect
7+ years of Cloud Engineering: Deep, hands-on experience architecting and operating production workloads in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Active TS/SCI Clearance: Most of our work requires an active TS/SCI with a polygraph.
Technical Depth and Breadth: You have a specialized deep-dive expertise but also a functional understanding of the whole stack—networking, security, and storage.
Enthusiast Mindset: You stay current with new architectural patterns because you’re genuinely interested in the craft.
Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management as a standard practice.
Nice to have
Google Professional Cloud Architect or Security Engineer certifications.
Experience with Kubernetes (GKE) or containerized workloads in secure environments.
Prior experience with FedRAMP, CMMC, or NIST 800-53 control implementations.
